I’m interested in scaling my current single P4 dedicated server to use a dedicated sql box and dedicated web box.

Actually the Opteron is a much better processor. It is 64 bit and so if you are running Linux or Windows 64 than you can take advantage of it. Databases can really take advantage of 64 bit chips. The 64 bit intel chip is called Itanium. You should be comparing Opteron versus Itanium and tell you the truth Opteron is better than even the Itanium!

Look at HP or IBM for Opteron servers. Dell is still selling Intel only.

” The comparison we’ve made here is a very important one; it identifies Intel’s strengths and their weaknesses with Xeon, and it crowns Opteron a clear multiprocessor winner. An area that we didn’t touch on is cost, which is where AMD truly shines. The Opteron 848 processors we tested are around 1/2 the price of Intel’s 2MB L3 Xeon MPs and we have not seen retail data on how expensive the 4MB parts will be.

In a 4-way configuration AMD’s Opteron cannot be beat, and thus it is our choice for the basis for our new Forums database server. We’ll be documenting that upgrade in a separate article so stay tuned.”

A: If you just want to make a blog website, you could also try a free blog like
1.Blogger http://www.blogger.com
2. Wordpress http://www.wordpress.com

A good hosting is very important for any website. They arethe foundation for your web site, your brand and your business. Web hosting isoften experienced downtime can potentially disrupt and destroy all that has beenbuilt and developed over the years. If you want to manage the web seriously, youneed to ensure that they are in good hands.

Free web hosting companies come with ad banners which can bequite annoying to your users. Rather, you can try cheap and economical webhosting. I’d recommend you hostgator. When you register a domain name you usuallyrequire a web hosting. hostgator brings you a convenience. You can now book an hostgatorfree domain registration great with your web hosting package.

Question:

I’m looking into hosting my own website in the UK, however I don’t want dedicated or shared hosting, I’m looking into finding a provider where I can use to host my own physical severs, basically a provider who gives space and bandwidth for my servers to use rather than using its own servers. Does this exist?

Answers:

Of course. Call your Internet Service provider to give you a FIXED IP address.
Let’s work out the math. Let’s say tha you buy a Fixed IP address and it costs $100 per month. Don’t expect it to be cheap.

Then consider the really nice Server that you buy. Let’s say that you go with a medium budget and spend $1000 for the computer. Of course, if you go LINUX, that software will be free, but Windows 2003 Server will cost you around $1,000.

With your own server, that means BACKUPS and other maintenance. If you go Windows, that means that you need added security. Obviously, I recommend LINUX as your operating system…Hey, but I don’t have a clue what you want to do.

Now look at a RENTED shared hosting: Extra low priced service, but shared server and shared SSL certificate. This works, but it you are not alone. Obviously, you would MOVE to other services if you exeedd the monthly bandwidth limit regularly. Take a close look at http://www.ipowerweb.com at their LINUX server services. This is under $50 per YEAR, plus Domain Name(s).

If you are planning multiple websites and want individual website SSL certificate, then go with Host Gator. See http://www.hostgator.com
Again, this is under $60 per YEAR, plus $75 for SSL.

The lower maintenance costs of rented hosting is well worth the hassle of being able to say “I do it myself”.

We recommend you to choose a dedicated server, Go to the planet, they are the best. See http://www.theplanet.com

Hostgator-review-coupon.org, after running with hostgator for a few months and had zero downtime and the forum and blog have been very fast. We’re sure that hostgator is very fast and stable web hosting provider.

I have been hosting with hostgator for around a couple of months now, and have a couple of domains with them. I don’t have much time to type this up as I am fairly busy with work, but I felt I owe them a thankyou for the awesome service I receive from the 2 domains I have hosted with them.

I have a fairly active forum with no less than 60 active members browsing the boards at any time, and they sure are quick to complain if anything goes down. During the time I have been with hostgator I have had ZERO downtime, and my forum has been consistently fast.

I have had no problems during my stay so far, and HG even went to the trouble of installing an SSL cert for free for me as I didn’t have the funds in my PayPal account. Hostgator, I salute you. They truelly know what they are doing, their support is consistent and rapid and their servers maintained incredibly well.

Thankyou for providing me with an honest, efficient and excellent service. I really am glad I chose hostgator and have no problem in fully commending them to anyone I meet.

Hostgator webhosting is really fast and reliable.

Hostgator Review

Hostgator is one of the top web host, in terms of support, features and uptime. It is no wonder that almost all web hosting reviews place hostgator as one of the top hosts. To read more about hostgator service review, please checkout our detailed hostgator service review.

Visit HostGator Web Hosting Website

Hostgator Coupon

Hostgator offers up to $9.95 or the first month free with their coupon codes. If you want to get the first month of shared hosting free, use the hostgator coupon code hgc25 during sign up. At the moment, hostgator have a better promotion running till 1st April. 2008. For any hostgator purchase, you get 20% off the entire order. That is a great offer for reseller accounts and shared hosting prepaid for longer duration. To get the discount, just enter the coupon code: LUCKY during signup.

Bluehost Vs Hostgator Review

Both hostmonster and Bluehost are two of the best shared web hosts. But hostgator scores over bluehost in the following:

1. Hostgator allows monthly payment for a very small setup fee($5.00). Bluehost charges much bigger ($30.00)setup fee for a monthly contract. If you prefer monthly contract, hostgator is a better option.
2. Hostgator offers much better support, compared to bluehost. Bluehost support is just okay, where as hostgator is ready to go that extra mile for you.

Hostmonster Vs Hostgator Review

Hostmonster and Bluehost belongs to the same company, so most of what mentioned about bluehost is applicable for hostmonster as well. If you compare hostgator reviews and hostmonster reviews generally, you can see that both get good ratings with hostgator standing out on few points. Here is the reason why we recommend hostgator over hostmonster.

1. Support- Hostgator simply too good.
2. Flexible payment terms – Hostgator lets you choose a monthly billing, yearly or even you can prepay for two or three years. Unless you are expecting to get a discount, there is no need for commiting to anything more than a month.

Hostgator Vs IX Web Hosting

The best thing about IX web host is that they give unique IP address for each add-on domain unlike most shared web hosts. So if you have a large number of sites and would like to link them, IX is a good option considering the SEO advantage.

Apart from that, Hostgator is a much better host. Hostgator offers better control panel(cpanel instead of H-sphere), much better support and overall better service. Also note that IX doesn’t give mysql database for their basic offer, so cost wise there is not much differnce if you are looking to host a PHP/MySQL based site. No wonder, hostgator gets a much better review on any reliable review site.

Godaddy Vs Hostgator Review

There is no comparison here. Hostgator scores in all possible parameters. Any web hosting review on the net will put hostgator far ahead of godaddy.

1. Features: Godaddy gives you a limited custom control panel where as hostgator gives you the power of cPanel and fantastico.
2. Uptime: Even though both oversells, Hostgator doesnt load as many sites as godaddy into a single server. Result – better performance and uptime for hostgator, even though godaddy has an equally good network.
3. Support: Godaddy support might push you a URL or copy paste something if you ask a question, where as hostgator gives you personalized care.

Hostgator Vs Startlogic

Once again both overslls but hostgator has a much better reputation. If most Hostgator reviews rate them excellent, startlogic just gets and okay rating by reliable hosting reviews.

1. Controlpanel – Startlogic uses vDeck compared to cPanel used by hostgator
2. Support – A BIG differnce
3. Uptime – Startlogic customers reports too many down times. Slow server is not a news there.
4. Flexible payment options and plans compared to single plan by startlogic.
